Roger E. Kirk Division 5 Author of the Year Award and Department Grant
The Roger E. Kirk Division 5 Author of the Year Award recognizes psychologists contributing to the body of work of quantitative methods. Preference is given to candidates who have written a book or document that could significantly improve the teaching of quantitative procedures or quantitative practices.
The Roger E. Kirk Division 5 Author of the Year Award recognizes psychologists
contributing to the body of work of quantitative methods. Preference is given to
candidates who have written a book or document that could significantly improve the teaching of quantitative procedures or quantitative practices.
Recipients will receive an award of $50,000. In addition, the home department of the award recipient may submit a purpose statement/memo to receive a grant of $15,000 to support quantitative and statistics activities, including research or teaching related to this area.
Eligibility
APF encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds with respect to age, race, color, religion, creed, nationality, ability, sexual orientation, gender, and geography.
Applicants must:
- be psychologists with a doctoral degree at any stage are eligible to be nominated
- demonstrate contributions to improving the teaching of quantitative procedures or quantitative practices
Self-nominations as well as nominations by others are encouraged for this award.
Preference will be given to:
- nominees who have written a book or document that could significantly improve the teaching of quantitative procedures or quantitative practices, which has been published by a scholarly press or in a peer review journal
- nominees who are full members or fellows of Division 5, for at least one year, at time of nomination
- nominees who are faculty members currently employed by a regionally accredited college, university, or retired from such an institution
Application Instructions
Please submit the following documents:
- nomination statement that includes evidence of how the nominee’s writings have contributed to improving the teaching of quantitative procedures or quantitative practices, making specific reference to the focal book/document authored by the nominee
- nomination statement will also state how the nominator will submit a copy of the focal book/document to the review committee upon request
- nominee’s CV
- two additional external reviews/letters of support of the focal book/document authored by the nominee
Evaluation Criteria
Applicants will be evaluated on:
- impact
- innovation
- contributions to the field
- alignment with award’s purpose
