What kind of organization is APF?
The American Psychological Foundation (APF) is a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization (EIN: 52-6051733). Your contributions are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. APF Maintains a four star rating on Charity Navigator and a Platinum Seal for Transparency on Candid. In addition, APF is a member of the Council on Foundations and holds the Platinum Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health from Mental Health America.
What program(s) should I give to?
You can make a contribution to any of APF’s programs. To have the most immediate and broad-ranging impact, make your gift to APF 2026 – this allows our Board of Trustees to meet emerging needs and identify priorities for funding in real-time as they develop. Supporting APF directly enables support for important projects like our Does it Data resource, Direct Action Visionary Grants, the Mental Health Parity Index, and more!
Are APF and APA related?
The American Psychological Foundation was founded in 1953 as an independently incorporated grant making foundation focused on supporting the field of psychology. Though separate organizations, American Psychological Association and the American Psychological Foundation have worked closely together over the past several decades to advance the field of psychology and support the career of psychologists, and our missions remain largely aligned.
