APF Direct Action Program

Jewish Community Mental Health Initiative (JCMHI)

The Jewish Community Mental Health Initiative (JCMHI) is a Direct Action Program of the American Psychological Foundation, founded after the October 7, 2023 attacks and the subsequent rise in global antisemitism to strengthen the mental health and resilience of Jewish communities worldwide.

JCMHI’s work, led by a network of 100+ volunteer clinicians, researchers, and educators, spans four pillars: Global Support, through 25+ free weekly clinician-led virtual support groups; Research on the psychological impacts of antisemitism and pathways to healing, resilience and growth; Education & Training equips professionals and communities about the psychological impacts of identity-based hate, along with practical strategies to foster resilience, support, and belonging; and Rapid Response provides timely psychological support, consultation, and resources to communities affected by acts of antisemitism or community crises.
